Art Basics

While teaching my granddaughter, Scarlet, the Elements of Art & Principles of Design, we found the material in her fourth grade text book to be overwhelming. She suggested making a book that had examples similar to the ones I was drawing for her. She liked the idea of having the Elements & Principles INSIDE of a sketchbook. So, we began creating simple and easily identifiable examples of the Seven Elements of Art. Scarlet suggested including examples of masters work with the Principles of Design.

The end results of our collaboration is the ART BASICS: Student Sketch Book with the Elements of Art & Principles of Design. 

Scarlet also suggested a sketch pad with just the lists of the Elements & Principles for the more advanced students. Thus the creation of ART BASICS: Sketch Pad including the Elements of Art & Principles of Design.

Art Basics can serve as the perfect supplement to most art text books that have a more in depth approach to these topics. By providing a very basic, easy to understand illustration of each Element & Principle, the students can more easily grasp the complexities of art.
